The summer heat is brutal, so
please make sure your son or daughter brings water in an
insulated bottle or jug to marching practices. Water only,
please. No sports drinks or sodas.
Make sure your
child's immunizations are up to date. Under law, students who
not have received all required immunizations and provided the
school with up-to-date records cannot register for the new
school year. If you're unsure, check with the school's main
office: 561-5150.
All students
participating in the Cougar Marching Band must wear
special-ordered black marching shoes. Students will be fitted
for shoes Friday, August 1, at 12 noon. Price: $30 per pair.
Please make checks payable to Edie Cardwell.
***Update***If your son or
daughter missed the fittings and still needs marching shoes,
contact Edie Cardwell at 690-9054.
The first Cougar Band
concert of the year will take place in the courtyard on Friday,
August 15 at 6:30 p.m., capping off the end of the summer band
season. Band students should report to the band hall at 6:00
p.m. Other concerts throughout the year include a holiday
concert in December and a spring concert in May.
Students in the Cougar
Band are graded on their playing ability. To advance performance
skills, private lessons are highly encouraged. Private lessons
are on the students' own time and at their own expense. Look for
a list of local private instructors to be posted soon on this
site.
The marching season is
an extremely busy time for the Cougar Band, but it lasts only
about 12 weeks. Make sure your Band student gets plenty of rest
and keeps up his or her grades!
