Marching Band Rehearsal Attendance Policy |
|
In order to maintain a high-quality marching band, attendance from all members is essential. Unlike other classes where a student's success is based upon individual accomplishment, the band's success depends upon complete member participation. Please review the following attendance policy for the 2009-10 school year:
Absences from rehearsals
-
You are considered absent if you arrive more than 20 minutes late or miss an entire rehearsal.
-
If you know that you will be absent on a certain date, you must hand a note from your parent directly to one of the directors as soon as you know you will be absent. Your note must be given directly to a director - not to a drill instructor, guard captain, drum major or other adult staff.
***It is up to the directors' discretion to decide whether an absence is excused or unexcused.***
Excused Absences
-
A student with two excused absences from any rehearsal n one week will not march at the next football game or contest, or perform at the next concert.
-
The directors will decide what is excused and what is not.
-
For an absence to be excused, the student must provide an acceptable note.
Unexcused Absences A student with one unexcused absence from any rehearsal in a given week will not march at the next football game or contest, or perform at the next concert.
Tardies
-
If you are not in your warm-up position or assigned position by the time attendance is taken, you are considered tardy.
-
Two tardies equal one absence.
-
Parent/teacher notes for tardies follow the same rules for absences.
If you have any questions about this attendance policy, contact one of the Clark directors at 397-5240.
