Clark Band Boosters Meeting
Minutes
March 9, 2004 – 7:00
pm, Band Hall
1)
Call to order: 7:15 pm
2) Adoption of minutes from
Jan. 13th Booster Meeting (No formal meeting in Feb.)

3) Reports of Directors and Board Officers
a)
Band Directors - Mr. Kuentz/Mr. Telles: The Winter guard has
done well in Tulsa, Marshall (1st place) and Dallas.
Cindy Settles our UTSA student teacher. She is a clarinet
player and has been very helpful in all areas. 8th
grade orientation was tonight at 6 pm it went well and there was
a very good turn out. Full Orchestra is at UIL tonight. Guard
will be competing at John Jay this Saturday at 5 pm. Thanks to
everyone that could make it tonight.
b)
President – Becky Plemons
- Ponchos have been received and
paid for.
- Senior Trip to Port Aransas was
cancelled.
- Orientation Meeting for 8th
grade band students held tonight at 6:00 pm. Efforts have been
made to recruit 8th graders from Rudder, Hobby and
Rawlinson. Letters have been written to 8th grader
from the officers and drum majors, to parents from Becky, spirit
bags will be given during UIL to each 8th grader, and
Mr. Kuentz and 2 freshmen will visit schools.
- Jan Eulenfeld Scholarship: 2
scholarships $500 each will be given to two seniors. An essay
is required and band bucks accounts will need to be in order.
Winners of scholarship will be announced at the May concert.

V.P. Fundraising – Gloria Carter
- Some candy money still out. 24
kids still have not turned in their monies.
- Possible “Taco Cabana Night” in
May. We will see how Funday turns out.

V.P. Concessions – John Moya
- Sign up to work, tonight!

Treasurer – Gus Belitzer
- Update on budget and student
“Band Bucks” accounts. Balance in accounts $23,903.31
f)
Guard Rep. – Judy Bray
- Update on Winter guard trips
and contests.
- Next contest at Jay High
School, Saturday, March 13th.
- Band Boosters host contest here
at Clark, Saturday, March 27th, see or call Judy
Bray at 680-1270 to help!
12-7 pm.
- State competition to be held at
West Campus High School on Saturday, April 3rd.

Reports of Standing Committees
a)
Chaperones
- Many volunteers needed for
upcoming events, sign up tonight!
b)
Fiesta “Funday Sunday”
- Sunday, April 18th,
1:00 – 5:00 pm, Leon Springs Dancehall
- Various sign-ups tonight please
volunteer to help!
- Fiesta pins are now available
for purchase for $5 each.
- Maclovio Perez will be the
parade Grand Marshall.
- Information and Meal Tickets
(for catered meal) handed out to students on Fri., March
26th, money due on
Mon., April 12th. Rustlers BBQ on O’Connor and
Nacogdoches. This will be a beef plate.

Last meeting for all chairpersons is Thursday, April 8th,
7:00 pm in the Band Hall.

c)
Scrip – Elaine Hutzler
- Scrip orders to be continued
through the summer break.
d)
Uniforms – Sue Patton
- Pants and baldrics sent back to
Stansbury (Uniform Company).
- Due back April 1st
in time to prepare for Fiesta events.
- Help needed when received.
4) Upcoming Events/Updates
a) Middle School Bands UIL Competition at Clark,
March 10th - 11th 11-6 pm.
b) Next Booster Meeting, Tuesday, April 13th,
7:00 pm, Band Hall
- 2nd Jazz Band will perform.
c) Band Festival “A Kaleidoscope of Texas Music”
at Alamo Stadium on Thurs., April 22nd
- Patriotic Concert begins at 6:30 pm
- Festival begins at 7:00 pm.
- Email Time Warner about televising.
d) Battle of the Flowers Parade on Friday, April
23rd
- Tickets will be available for purchase soon!
e) DC (Director’s Choice) Festivals held at Clark
on April 23rd & 24th, April 30th
& May 1st.
-Will need monitor, stage setup, souvenir
sells and judges sheets.
f) Spring Concert on Tuesday, May 11th,
7:00 pm, Auditorium
- Short Booster Meeting
- Graduating Seniors honored: senior gifts
will be made by Sue M.
6)
New business
a) Nominating Committee for
2004-2005 Cougar Band Booster Board Members.
- Sue
Patton, Chuck Kuentz and Mary Lee named by Becky Plemons per
by-laws.
- Nominations taken from the
floor by the general membership present.
- Vote on 2 members to be on the
nominating committee. Gloria C. and Lori D. were nominated and
voted in to be on committee.
- Committee will make their
recommendations at the next booster meeting.
b)
Campaign to convince NISD to provide greater funding for band
programs.
- Debi Korinchock will facilitate
this effort.
- Form coalition of all NISD High
School Band Booster Organizations.
