3. Report from the band directors – Mr. Kuentz and Mr. Telles
a. Mr. McMahon, one of Clark’s administrators, attended this meeting. Appreciation for his attendance was expressed. He enjoyed last week’s halftime show.
b. Marching season is coming to a close. The halftime show at remaining football games will be limited.
c. Region Jazz and Choir Clinics and Concerts are this weekend (November 13). Clark students will be participating
d. Clark currently has 8 to 10 kids that do not have passing grades and are therefore ineligible to participate in marching band.
e. The football game on Saturday, November 13 is in Corpus Christi. The current plan calls for the students and chaperones to leave the school at 8:30 am on school buses, arrive in Corpus Christi in time to eat, and change into uniforms for 2 pm game. After the game, the students will change out of uniform, eat, load up the buses and head back to school. We still are trying to locate available charter buses for the trip. We anticipate that the football team will win and the next game will probably be against Smithson Valley next weekend. A coin toss will occur by Sunday. We have a responsibility as a band to attend the play off games.
f. NISD will be making changes to the high schools’ schedules next year. They will probably eliminate block schedules. This is being done for financial reasons. There is some concern about continued funding for the fine arts programs. Please become an advocate. Go online to the website goarts.org and sign in to have the Texas Legislature fund fine arts programs in the public schools.
