The battery is
composed of:
•
The
snares -- Joann P., Nathan L., Mark R., Curtis H. and Lorenzo P.
• The quints --
Victor E.,
Michael W., Allen V.
• The bass drums --
Evan O. A.J.
Gray, Anthony M., Kevin S, Kat W.
• The cymbals -- Obi O. and Max
R.
"The opportunity to perform came though connections (drum line
clinician) Ron Garza has in the community," said Clark Associate
Band Director Marcos Telles. "Overall, it was quite an enjoyable
experience. It was great to get out and provide entertainment to an
already spirited crowd. The crowd response and enjoyment was well
worth the trip!"

Clark Band students attended
concerts at
Hobby and Rawlinson Middle Schools recently
to encourage middle school band students to consider
continuing their music experience at Clark. Clark band
officers met with parents and students after the concerts
to tell them what Clark band is all about and to give them
a specially prepared newsletter,
Cougar Band Notes,
highlighting the many positive and fun activities
associated with being a part of the Cougar Band.
lf you know a middle school band student or parent, be
sure to share your positive Clark band experience with
them and invite them to consider joining the Cougar Band
family when they go into high school.
Clark music students enjoy
special visit from San Antonio Symphony music director
posted

On
Friday, January 28, the students of the Clark Jazz Band and
Clark Orchestra were the privileged recipients of a special
visit from Larry Rachleff, Music Director of the San Antonio
Symphony. In an informal setting, Maestro Rachleff shared
his perspectives and expertise and answered questions about the
music profession and the importance of music in our daily
lives.
Maestro
Rachleff visited
Clark, in part, to thank Cougar Band students for their efforts and generous
donation to the San Antonio Symphony two years ago when the
organization was on the brink of collapse due to financial
difficulties. That year, the Cougar Band held a
car wash at
the Burger King on De Zavala and raised more than $800 for
the San Antonio Symphony through car wash proceeds and
matching donors.
Many
thanks to Maestro Rachleff and the Symphony’s operations
administrator, Margaret Hager, for offering such a unique
and enjoyable opportunity to our students.
